We have a new podcast at the Nation called Real Life. Myself, Jason Strudwick and Nation co-founder Wanye Gretz will be a part of it.
Struds and I really enjoyed working together for a few years and have been looking to do something together for awhile. Wanye is actually quite funny, and smart, and after he cried himself to sleep numerous nights fretting over this he decided to join us.
We will talk sports, but most of our discussions will be about Real Life scenarios.
It will be light-hearted, funny, full of chirps and we have some unique guests lined up in the coming weeks.
You can listen to the first episode here.
Wanye speaks for the first time and discusses why he started Oilersnation and his painful fanboy breakup with Jordan Eberle. We also discuss whether Struds should get hair plugs transplants, how your eyesight can improve and a classic story about Mike Milbury.
It will be up on itunes in the near future. You have to apply to get on and with Wanye’s shaddy past it won’t be up on itunes for a few weeks.
Moving forward we will record it on Mondays at 11 a.m. and it will be available on the Nation on Tuesday. If you have any questions be sure to send them our way on Mondays via twitter with the #RealLife.
We look forward to your questions about Real Life and anything else.

Viva la NXNGRETZ!
Will it be ending up on iTunes at some point as well?
Yes….likely in a week or two. They are reviewing the application, which likely means they are checking Wanye’s passport to ensure it is legit.
Awesome, can’t wait. Thanks!
Cheers
I’d suggest a reminder post at that time, maybe in the Monday mailbag post? I’ll subscribe to this for sure once it is on iTunes!
Great podcast thanks guys. I’ll listen every week.
And Struds, great story!
Great poddy man but I can’t help missing the original version with Chris BM and JS.
Just listened. I have to admit I was surprised to hear Wanye’s voice. I expected him to sound like an over-excited teenage girl squealing “Connor! Squee!”, but he has the rich baritone of an adult male. Despite having the arms of a 6 year old girl attached to the body of a 30 year old man, he overcame adversity and delivered an entertaining podcast.
To be fair, unlike much of Yak’s NHL career in Edmonton, he had two grizzled veterans there to prop him up and keep his skates pointed in the right direction. It was no Eberle-esque first NHL goal, but a successful debut for Gretz, nevertheless. Well done.
I hope Wanye brings his MS Paint game for this podcast!
PS I found this on iTunes just now (in the US).
Not to be too pessimistic but shouldn’t you use a more original name? I am a huge fan of podcasts but when I search for this I get like 20 hits for real life Church and another 20 that are totally unrelated. I find podcasts with original names have more listeners and do better because it will be at the top of the list when you search for it.
Good pilot! I’ll definitely listen to the next one
great listen!
and if anyone else is like me (listening to it via a podcast app on your mobile) and not via soundcloud directly or itunes (when available), you can subscribe to it using this rss/url:

keep it up (y)
bring back NxN Gretz! Even a shorter podcast sans guests would be cool. I will give this one a shot though, too many great guys at Oilersnation
