Jordan Eberle’s comments to veteran writer Tim Pannaccio about the pressures of playing for the Edmonton Oilers ignited quite a debate among fans here Saturday. It’s a debate I’ve heard countless times over the last 25 years and one that almost always splits opinion into two very distinct camps. Only the names change.
The Edmonton Oilers arrive in Boston today with about 30 percent of the season complete. If we were to write a country song about this campaign, I’d recommend stealing the line “the money ran out and the engine blew” or “are we rolling downhill like a snowball headed for hell?” but your mileage may vary….
Over the years, the road has been kind to the Edmonton Oilers. Some struggling home teams left town and got their act together and there were also times where a trade completed while the club was out east had an enormous impact.
My friends, with all of the ups and downs that we’ve gone through this year we felt like it was time for us to get together and put our collective minds into finding some solutions. Next Saturday (December 2nd), we’re holding a FREE game day viewing party at the Pint Downtown and you’re all invited.
