Edmonton Oilers goaltending prospect, Stuart Skinner, extended his season with the Swift Current Broncos by winning the WHL Championship against the Everett Silvertips.
Skinner, a former third-round pick in 2017 (78th overall), was acquired from Lethbridge at the 2018 WHL trade deadline and backstopped the Swift Current Broncos to a WHL Championship win on Sunday night. Skinner put down his sixth shutout of the playoffs, which was a league-best among WHL goaltenders. His 31-saves paved the way for the Broncos to close out the finals with a 3-0 win over the Everett Silvertips.
This league championship will extend Swift Current’s season and send them to the 100th Mastercard Memorial Cup, where they will go up against the Hamilton Bulldogs (OHL), the Acadie-Bathurst Titans (QMJHL), and the host Regina Pats (WHL). The Broncos first game will be against Acadie-Bathurst on May 19th with the tournament opener on Friday, May 18th.
Skinner spoke about the win after the game:

So happy for Skinner and SC, but I’m not holding my breath. Apparently Brossoit was a great WHL goalie for the Oil Kings and, well, we know how he’s turned out as an NHL goalie. That being said, his work at the young stars tournament and this past preseason didn’t go unnoticed. Good for him and SC. Let’s see if Edmonton’s got a keeper here
I don’t watch a whole lottttaaa dub. Was their team as stacked as the oil kings? Plus the team he came from, we’re they any good? Bc if they were in any sort of contention, why would they trade him? Bc whatever team he was on before. He put up some decent numbers. And only got better behind who ever is on SC
Maybe the Oilers have gotten their first break, goalie wise, since Dubnyk was chosen?
No prospects ? hmmm.
